About William

William Frederick Caleb Earp has been a resident of North Fort Myers, Florida since 1995. William graduated from Mariner High School in 2009 and shortly after that he enlisted in the United States Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst. He also worked at the National Security Agency (NSA) and played a major role in the nation's fight against illegal immigration. After receiving an honorable discharge, William moved to Miami, Florida and attended Florida International University from 2013-2017. William currently holds an A.A.S. in Intelligence Operations, a B.S. in Criminal Justice, a Graduate Certificate in National Security and an M.A. in Global Governance. Since William's honorable discharge from the Military he has served his veteran community by working for the Department of Veterans Affairs and assisting veterans as they themselves separate from the Military and began their journey through the civilian world. William believes in a strong community that stands together in the face of adversity. Because of William's Military experience, strong educational foundation, and his strong sense of community, we believe that he is the best candidate to impact change in the communities of 79th District of the Florida House of Representatives.

William is a candidate with No Party Affiliation. The first President of the United States, George Washington was aware during his presidency that other governments viewed political parties as destructive because of the temptation to manifest and retain power, but also because they would often seek to extract revenge on political opponents. George Washington argued that political parties needed to be restrained in a free country with a government empowered by the consent of the governed and established through popular elections. He warned of the possibility fearing they could distract the government from its required duty to the people and even lead to the eradication of the freedoms established by the founding.

This campaign is centered around the idea that the system is not broken but that the system is in desperate need for a reset. Our first President warned us against the sectionalism that created the The Northern Union and the Southern Confederacy, as well as 21st Century Republicans and Democrats. The two-party system is destroying America. Democrats and Republicans are in a death match and the American people are caught in the middle. The nation faces all sorts of serious problems, from growing inequality to spreading international terrorism, but the bitter fight between Democrats and Republicans has largely ground government to a halt. Partisans on both sides are so angry they can barely speak with the other, much less work together. The most extreme are convinced that members of the other party are treasonous and purposefully harming the nation. This isn’t just a perception. This is the American political reality.

There is a growing disconnect between average citizens and elected officials. Part of the blame lies with a campaign finance system that unfairly stacks the deck in favor of the few Americans able to give exceptionally large contributions. Citizens United and other court rulings have obliterated decades of commonsense campaign finance laws. Now a handful of wealthy special interests dominate political funding, often through super PACs and shadowy nonprofits that conceal donors’ identities from the public. It is time to return the "government of the people for and by the people back to the people".
